How often do you contact your representative or senator? Do you know who these people are and the towns they serve? Have you ever thought of how these people came to be your representative or even considered being a candidate yourself? It’s all part of the democratic process and many people in your town and county play an active role in supporting and promoting conservative candidates to be on the ballot. It’s easy to be a part of this process and rewarding to support a candidate with similar values to your own. Democracy is much more than casting a ballot on election day. The Orange County GOP is dedicated to finding, supporting, and electing conservative candidates in Orange County. In order to become a voting member of OCGOP, start first with your own town’s GOP committee. If your town is not organized, we can help. Members elected by the town committees become voting members in OCGOP. That will give you a say at the county level. If elected to an office at the county level, you are a voting member of VTGOP and play a role in Republican policies statewide. OCGOP meets once a month (3rd Thursday) typically in Chelsea, or virtually when necessary. We plan for one large dinner gathering every year and try to have a presence at local events and fairs where you can meet with candidates and current serving representatives. We have provided some public breakfast meetings around the county during the legislative session in order to inform voters of pending bills and legislative activities. If you’d like to be more active in Orange County politics, contact a town or Orange County GOP member for meeting locations and times. A call to (802)223-3411 or visit to VTGOP.org can put you in touch with someone that can help you get involved.
